You said to me, ‘You got a face for radio.’ I said to you, ‘I got an honest sound.’ If you pay attention, we can be simpatico Sometimes it takes ugly beauty to turn these things around You’ll always see All of the seams Imperfectly in a perfect world With a voice that’s loud enough to be heard From station to station Shoulder to shoulder lined up in a row With all of the other philosopher kings and queens One thing in common: got a face for radio And if you’re lucky you can hear us sing Nothing matters When it all shatters Preconceptions of what you thought It means to us, yeah, a helluva lot Broadcasting now From station to station You’ll never see Perfection from me Imperfectly in a perfect world With a voice that’s loud enough to be heard From station to station

Ever been in a room and you feel so alone? All the talk starts to squawk at the sound of the tone Up against all the walls that you built in your mind Seen it coming, fast running, so cruel to be kind All half measures Buried treasures Lost Sank down into the sea Killed the party Though I dressed so sharply Found Headin’ on down the street Yeah, I’m gonna be the weirdo all by myself Maybe you’ll break on through and I can come off the shelf All the lines and the times I got outta my head Sense takes the cake, walks away, I’ll feel better instead Full on measures Buried treasures Found Dregged up from the sea Killed the party Though I talked so smartly Lost Kicking it down your street All half measures Buried treasures Lost
Sank down into the sea Killed the party Thought I talked so smartly Found Kicking it down your street Break down the wall Open up the door Break down the wall Open up the door Break down the wall Open up your door Break down the wall Open up the door It’s what I’m asking for What I’m asking for What I’m asking for Open up the door

Gravel in your pants And glass in your smile It’s kinda hard to dance When they’ve blocked all the aisles So I put my pride away And learned how to fake it Till I make it with honesty I guess I’ll have to grin and take it Everyone needs a hustle Just to get by Everyone needs that sweet OT And the sweet FA on the side Everyone needs a hustle Oh, that irony! You gotta scrape it down To get more of everything All the private jets Grounded from the skies They fired all that fueled them Still they act surprised Sleeping on greenbacks All taking and no giving Don’t mistake the joke When they call it ‘your living’ Everyone needs a hustle Just to get by Everyone needs that sweet OT And the sweet FA on the side Everyone needs a hustle Oh, that irony! You gotta scrape it down To get more of everything Everyone needs a hustle Just to get by Everyone needs that sweet OT And the sweet FA on the side Oh, everyone needs a hustle Oh, that irony! You gotta scrape it down To get more of everything Everything

Every time I turn around Another specter looms Visions of a past life Rising from the tomb Always standing silent Cursed with haunted eyes Passively violent Tethered to these times Every tortured soul That ever walked this earth Tries to escape The rites of his birth But they never sever Bound up in their pain Forced to hold position Karma all in vain Ghost of the week Lingering for only seven days Out of the woods and out of the haze Ghost of the week Lingering for only seven days Out of the woods and out of the haze Once I’m in the bardo Or I’m at the gate I know when I’m ready I’ll escape their fate Ghost of the week Lingering for only seven days Out of the woods and out of the haze Ghost of the week Lingering for only seven days Out of the woods and out of the haze Haunted eyes (haunted eyes) Haunted eyes (haunted eyes) Haunted eyes

I carefully misstepped We’re lucky when it’s bared Stripped away and unkempt Watch the evidence set Hiding only goes so far When you’re plastered up Inside some corner bar They recognize, and erupt You investigate But you can’t find the clues I didn’t weep when the cut ran deep And I injured you Hiding only goes so far When your profile’s assigned Suspicions feather and tar To these ties that bind And foster disbelief I didn’t weep when the cut ran deep I didn’t weep when the cut ran deep When you fostered pain and all this disbelief I didn’t weep when the cut ran deep Foster disbelief Foster disbelief Foster disbelief

It calls to you This familiar tune Sounds from another room Clear as a dream you had Not good or bad Uncanny land Transports you away Chaos in the air Following you around The fabric rips and tears And falls to the ground Almost like a prayer Whispered without dare Turn around and find yourself there This place without walls Rise about it all Suddenly feel small Hallelujah This is home now Chaos in the air Following you around The fabric rips and tears And falls to the ground Leave it all behind Leave it all behind It calls to you It calls to you By the light of the moon Yet another sign A place outside of time A place within your mind Leave it all behind Leave it all behind Chaos in the air Chaos in the air

about

Release No. 4 for Vague Choir. ‘Double Exposure’ is literally split in two. The first three songs are loud and upbeat. The last three songs are moody and slower. It seems like a good way to approach our fragmented lives these days. Pretend it’s on vinyl.
